Dr. Zhang received his Doctor of Medicine degree and Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering in China. He earned a PhD in biosystems engineering from Michigan State University followed by an internal medicine residency. He then completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. He is Board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. Dr. Zhang has participated in clinical research and has been published in numerous prestigious journals. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

I hope and pray I never have to deal with cancer again, but if I do, Dr. Zhang is the person I would trust my life with. He is a gentleman, very patient, and knowledgeable. Every time I have a return visit, he acts as though I am the only patient in the world. He allows me to ask any questions and isn't in a hurry to get to the next patient. Something that should also be taken into consideration when choosing an oncologist is the support staff the doctor has surrounded himself with. The nurses, physicians assistant, and front office staff at the Riverview office are some of the most caring and kind people I have met. They made my cancer battle easier with the kindness and personal care they showed toward me every time I walked through the door. They listen and care about you.
